If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter (and if you’re not, you should be) you may have seen our recent Team Building event in Konjic! We had such a fun time thanks to Sanjin Bubalo and his team from Visit Konjic that we wanted to share with our readers.
Before we get started you might be thinking, where is Konjic? Konjic is a little town in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Why Konjic? Why Bosnia?
For those of you who do not know, Bosnia and Herzegovina are where our developers, engineers, and most of our team are from. We have offices in Sarajevo and Zenica, and our biggest office is in Tuzla. (It is so big, we occupy two buildings side by side!)
This year was different from other team building events in the past because it was the first time employees from all of our offices around the world attended. We even extended an invitation to our partners! Not only did they join us on our adventures, but they also got an exclusive sneak peek of our new features and products.
Keep reading to hear how our week went!
Day 1 – Presentations & Tito’s Bunker
Our first day was dedicated to our partners! We had a fun-filled day of presentations from our developers and marketing team. Each presentation ended with an open discussion and Q&A period. The presentations showed our partners what is coming up and gave them a better understanding of our products.
Later in the afternoon, we went back in time and headed to Konjic’s best-kept secret – Tito’s Bunker! The bunker was built between 1953 and 1979 and is the largest nuclear shelter ever built in the former Yugoslavia. It was designed to protect Yugoslav President, Josip Tito and 350 of his closest friends in the event of a nuclear war.
Day 2 – Rafting
Day 2 of our International Team Building was a full day spent on the water! We geared up and headed out for a 7-hour adventure on the beautiful Neretva River. Visit Konjic supplied all our gear, took many photos and prepared a delicious BBQ. The guides were professional, knowledgeable and made us feel extremely safe!
Day 3 – Hiking
As the sun rose on day 3 of team building, so did the temperature. However, the heat (40°C/104°F in the mountains) didn’t stop over 30 of our employees from hiking to Lukomir, a small village in Konjic.
Fun Fact! According to National Geographic, Lukomir “is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s highest village at an elevation of just over 4,900 feet.”
After we had reached our destination, our team enjoyed a traditional Bosnian meal in the village of Lukomir. We learned about the heritage of the community, how the locals live today, and took in the breathtaking views.
Visit Konjic even accommodated the employees who wanted to visit Lukomir but did not want to take part in the hike. Jeep tours were provided to the village and our colleagues met us for lunch.
Aside from the activities, our team had the chance to enjoy traditional Bosnian cuisine at local restaurants in Konjic and explore the town. The evenings were provided with entertainment like live music and a stand-up comedian. As you can tell, it was a remarkable experience for all of us. Thank you Visit Konjic for an unforgettable adventure!
