We are now approaching case number ten in our ‘From Intern to Employee’ blog series! If you are new to this series, Bicom Systems collaborates with universities to offer students exclusive internships. It provides the students with an opportunity to work one-on-one with developers and learn from their expertise. In many cases, after our interns complete their internships with Bicom, we offer them a position within the company.

New employee at Software Company

To start, tell me about yourself!

My name is Ajnur Jukan, and I am a 23-year-old Associate Software Engineer at Bicom Systems. I studied at the University of Tuzla and graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. I became an Intern in October 2018, and after a year of working part-time while continuing my studies, I joined the Contact Center team as an official Bicom Systems employee!”

Who inspires you, and why?

“My amazing mentors! They provided me with so much information and have taught me what I needed to learn to be successful today.”

Why did you choose to do an internship at Bicom Systems?

I wanted to gain more experience, learn about programming while establishing important connections in the field. So after long conversations with my teachers and friends, I decided to apply. I choose Bicom Systems because it allowed me to learn from the very best.”

What would you say to future interns or people thinking of applying for an internship?

“As an intern, you get the chance to work hands-on in a professional environment with less pressure than a full-time employee. Everyone knows you’re there to learn, not to be the expert. Of course, do your best and work hard. But, take advantage of being the “learner” while you can! You’ll gain actual work experience. Internships help teach you more about the career path you’re pursuing, too.”

What is one skill you would like to improve?

“Personally, I have many skills that I would like to improve. But, if I have to choose one, then it would be my calmness when I find bugs in software haha!”

What excited you the most about working at Bicom Systems?

I remember being excited because it was my first ever job experience! I was looking forward to working at such a big company, and to solve real-world problems. The technology we use here, I truly believe, is the key to humanity’s next stage of growth.”

Now that you are full-time, what challenges have you come across?

“Well, in the beginning, a lot of stuff was new to me. But day after day I’ve been learning and working harder to be better. Today, I’m working on a big project for the company and I’m pretty excited because I know how much it means for our customers!”

Do you have any hobbies?

“Outside of work, I enjoy playing football! Every Friday, the guys from the office play football. It is a great way to relax after a long week. I also like to play basketball, and during the weekends I usually go out with my friends, or I go to the cinema to watch some movies.”

If you had to choose one, would you consider yourself a big-picture person or a detail-oriented person?

“I would consider myself as a detail-oriented person. I like to take my time, analyze the facts and information of things.”
