The number 13. Lucky? 🍀 Unlucky? ☘️
Either way, Tarik Fazlić is case number thirteen of our ‘From Intern to Employee’ blog series!
Tarik started at Bicom Systems as an Intern back in January 2018. While studying Computer Science at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Tuzla, he completed almost two years as an intern. Finally, the time came in November 2019 for Tarik to join the team as a full-time employee.
Get to know Tarik, the Associate Software Developer. He shares what he wants to improve this year, what his greatest achievement is, and advice for future interns. Tarik also introduces us to his dog, Jacky! (Prepare for cuteness overload😍)
Why did you choose to do an internship at Bicom Systems?
“I decided to do my internship at Bicom Systems for many reasons. I like communication software and android programming, but I knew I could learn a lot of new things regarding computer science. Even though I learned plenty at University, I think that work experience is as important as the theoretical part. An internship is a great transition between the habits and lifestyle of a student and those of an employee.”
What project are you most excited about being a part of? And Why?
“I am very excited to be part of the Client Apps team and to work on the gloCOM GO application. I am learning a lot of new things and improving my skills at programming, thanks to this project! This project is also exciting to me because of the new chat feature coming soon on our mobile application. I always wanted to know how it worked for smartphones, and what better way to learn it than to implement it yourself.”
Describe what your day looks like now as a full-time employee.
“I arrive to work about 7:45 am, make some much-needed coffee, and at 8:00 am have my daily standup meeting with my team. The tasks I have throughout the day are either features, bug fixes, or performance improvements. We break for lunch around noon, and then I continue with my tasks for the rest of the afternoon.”
Outside of work, what do you like to do for fun?
“I like playing video games with my friends, going to the gym, playing tennis, and hiking in nature. Also, I have a 1-year-old Terrier puppy named Jacky! He loves to play and when I take him for walks.”
How do you want to improve yourself this year?
“I would like to learn more about Android programming, and thanks to the new BiAgile week, that is now possible! I am also a fan of tennis, and I used to play tennis when I was younger, I would like to get more time to play it.”
So far, what has been your greatest achievement in life?
“My greatest achievement so far has been graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and receiving my bachelor’s degree in engineering. I worked hard, and in the end, it finally paid off. The Faculty gave me the knowledge I needed for employment and to improve my skills even further!”
What is your personal mission statement?
“Learn, work, and have fun doing it!”
