Our greatest insights are brought to you with heartfelt devotion. We hope you’ll enjoy your read!

It has been 1,060+ days since our very first Hackathon. 1,060+ days ago, on October 27th 2017, was also the day Tarik Dahić was introduced to Bicom Systems! Almost three years later, Tarik is now an official Software Engineer on the gloCOM GO iOS team.

Although Tarik basically sealed the deal by winning the Hackathon, his journey started when a professor from his University recommended Bicom Systems as a place to apply for an internship. Of course, he was wary at first! Asking questions like, Who is Bicom Systems? Is telecommunications even what I want to do? Will I even be developing software? 😲

Thankfully, after some introductions and a successful interview, Tarik knew this is where he wanted to work! Are you interested in learning more about Tarik? Keep reading!

Tell me something about you!

“Hi, my name is Tarik Dahić, and I just finished my senior year at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Tuzla. Before Bicom Systems, I was in a photography & videography business with my friend, but I chose software engineering as a primary career because I love it more. 😊”

Photography and videography are interesting! Are you still pursuing it outside of work?

I am still doing videography and photography, but as a hobby. Last year was my final year as a professional videographer, where I mostly filmed weddings. My love for the camera still persists, so I made a habit of filming every trip that I take with my girlfriend and friends!  This year we went to Neum, and you can see the beautiful Bosnian Gem here.”

“Working at Bicom Systems has also allowed me to pursue my love for photography and videography. I have filmed content from our Hackathons, Office Openings, and other events.”

How does it feel now that you are a full-time employee?

“I feel awesome! Since I was little, I always liked working with computers, and I always dreamt of having a job in this industry. Now, my dream is fulfilled!”

What is a work-related accomplishment that you’re really proud of?

“Every task that I successfully complete makes me proud. But, I am proud of most of the work on Version 6 for gloCOM GO. I’ve worked on it since the beginning, and after the release, I was thrilled because some of my work is going to be used by people all around the world!”

How do you manage working from home during Covid-19?

“So far, so good! Productivity doesn’t lack, although it gets boring, not talking or collaborating with my colleagues. Occasionally we meet for lunch and coffee, so that helps in fighting the loneliness of working from home.”

What energizes you outside of the office?

“Any kind of sport, hanging out with friends and family, or finding free time to dedicate to my hobbies. When I am feeling like I need to be lazy and recharge, I enjoy watching anime or something on Netflix.”

What is a piece of advice you would tell future interns or people thinking of applying for an internship?

“An Internship is a great way to improve your skills, expand your knowledge, and connect with people from the industry. It is also the best starting point for your first full-time job in the IT industry!”
