On March 17th, 2020, our employees packed up computers, monitors, and some even office chairs, and headed home. Like many, our ‘new normal’ of working from home began, and we did not know how long it would last.
In the beginning, we reached out to our OG remote works who have been working from home long before the pandemic! They started sharing their tips, like stick to a schedule, limit distractions, and take breaks. Together, our team compiled a list of features and tools that will help increase remote worker productivity.
We realized our employees might not be the only ones who need help navigating this new lifestyle. Our sales team worked together and offered solutions for our partners on topics such as:
-
Transitioning their customers to work from home
-
Selling a WFH solution during a pandemic
-
Setting up a remote workforce remotely
After the first few weeks, we finally found our bearings. It was time to stop preaching how good our WFH solutions were, and time to put them to work. To keep our global company connected, we relied solely on our desktop and mobile unified communication applications, gloCOM and glocOM GO. Employees were able to seamlessly switch between their computers and mobile devices to accommodate their needs better.
Similar to other providers, Bicom Systems offered free trials for our Unified Communications solutions. In fact, our developers accelerated the process and made our biggest release, Version 6.0, available sooner! We sped up the release date because Version 6 possessed a new feature called gloCOM Meeting. This feature enables gloCOM users to video conference and meet virtually.
On top of gloCOM Meeting, the Version 6 release took our existing products to a new level! New features like central phone book, mobile chat, and the CC dialer enhanced our software suite for the better.
Our team wanted to create a space for our partners and followers to easily access the material and solutions they may need during this difficult time. Therefore, we created a specific COVID-19 Landing Page. There, we were able to pile information regarding the free trial of gloCOM Meeting, free work from home resources, and more!
As the days turned into weeks, the weeks started turning into months. But finally, after 118 days of working from home, our Canadian office received the ‘all clear’ to head back into the office on July 13th. Of course, there was one more thing we had to do before returning to our new, old, normal.
Days before returning, part of the marketing department met virtually one last time. You might be thinking…“haven’t you done enough?”
Due to the pandemic, we figured many of our partner’s travel plans and vacations had been canceled. To let them know we were thinking about them, we launched a seasonal campaign called Bicom Systems Summer School.
The team developed an interactive schedule fitted with presentations, roundtable discussions, and industry experts. Global partners were asked to participate, as well as join the sessions. Summer School was a chance for others to learn more about Bicom Systems, and to listen to others’ expertise in the industry.
And that’s a wrap!
It has been over a month now that our Candian team is back in the office. Our other offices worldwide are abiding by government regulations, with employee safety being our number one concern.
Not only did we keep busy during our days of WFH, so did our partners! One of our long-time partners, Intellicom, spent three weeks working on solutions for the Health Service Executive (HSE) of Ireland. Another Bicom Systems partner, GTS-Telecom, found ways to disperse the necessary messages about COVID-19 across the country.
What have you been up to during quarantine?
